What is a Campaign?

Today we had a lesson talking about approaching our next project. We learned about campaigns and what they are.

Definition :  a campaign is a series of advertisements that use different marketing strategies that share a similar message and idea in order to promote. It is a strategic use of marketing in order to showcase a product (something new) in a way that attracts peoples attention.

What does a media (music) campaign include?

- a music video

- album artwork

- live appearances/ tours

- interviews (TV, radio)

- a digipak

- social media (instagram page, website)

- posters

A campaign aims to build demand for the product and increase sales by investing money.

An example of a music campaign

An artist called Oral Gartland recently came out with a single and here are some examples of how its was promoted.

She posted video sneak peaks on her story's in order to build upon the release and get fans exited. This is an example of a post she put in her story of screen grabs from the music video.

She did several posts on her instagram reminding people of the song and even linked the video in her bio (reminding people and encouraging them to listen).

This is the art for the album which shows off the kind of music she sings (it is an interesting cover). This is the consumers first impression of the single.

Finally the music video is a crucial part of the release : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKWJICaKYGY

All these components piece together a package which gives off the image of the artist and tells you about the type of music they make (genre) and their style.
