Music videos used to only be shown on MTV (top of the pops), before YouTube there was no other way of releasing them. Youtube came along in 2005. Youtube, when it started out, gave people the same chance as anyone to being noticed and seen. This meant that lots more music videos were being made as it was more accessible to people.
Artists started to get linked to music videos (Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody) and some artists were solely about the music videos (OK GO).
Things you need to include / think about :
1) a good track (song has to stand out on its own).
2) what makes the artist stand out?
