Cubism? Could be cool to have the artist into cubism (Juan gris) and a specific artist as then we can play with weird visuals and abstract settings. Or potentially pop art as you can create cool images with the artist in mind. Rather than using screens it would be better to create separate sets for each one as it comes across like theatre. If we did use pop art we would use a more muted pop artist we found one called sir Peter Blake who creates stuff I can visualise recreating with our song. He tends to do quite collage based stuff which would be fun to recreate (and cool to represent in the album cover). However I we were going to do pop art I feel we would have to represent it fully but the colour schemes are too bright for the genre.
We also need to think about how we are going to integrate the guitarist as the guitar part is not complicated enough to make him solely a guitarist. We could make him play all the different instruments (possibly a different instrument in each set).
We have decided after reflecting on these ideas we want to still use sliding screens as we all really love that idea a lot. We would want to have one that is a window (brick wall) and we want the main singer to open the blinds on the beat. After that that wall would get slid off set and we would see another set behind it that would possibly reflect cubism or a specific artist. The furniture could all be lop sided and cut and weirdly shaped (distorted inside) reflecting an artist or how the singer is feeling. I really like the colour themes and the scene in cat in the hat where the children have destroyed the house. I think it looks cool and abstract. I also like the lighting though the windows in these screen grabs (soft and light but darker inside). We would plan to have about six different wheel panels that we can use as different set ups.
- could have a visual of them either side of the door sitting (shows they are different but still work together).
- could make a very commercial cool living set with some bits of furniture glued on the wall play with angles and directions. Sideways?
- bunk beds could also be cool (one on top and bottom see recorders and stuff underneath bunk beds). Could get bits when they are on the same bunk etc. Keeps it childish and creative. Top bunk could be some different from the bottom. Could light it in a cool way (each level is something different). She can be a dreamer, got her head in the clouds (top bunk) he is the work of things (on the bottom bunk working). Cool transitions .... (main part of the video / 80% of it). Make top bunk girly (project stars...), middle bunk something that represents both people, and floor and underneath where he is. There is a Tiktok transition we could use of one of them falling to the side and it coming back up in another shot.
SET IDEAS
Theme for girls top bunk: Dreamy, girly, stars. Set out so it looks like her head is in the clouds (top bunk). We like the idea of putting some sort of led stars or glow in the dark stars on the ceiling (we could possibly turn off the lights at some point and it would be a cool shot). We want her colour schemes. In the pre chorus it could be cool to play with the stars. Possibly a bubble machine or bubbles.
bottom bunk - we want the middle bunk to reflect both people. We could put vinyls and retro wall paper behind the bunk combining their interests.
Floor - This is where Luke would be. We would want some sort of carpet. We want pipes and smoke (smoke machine?). Cool lights glowing underneath the bed.
Our colour palette ideas for the bunk bed set:
We want more greens and pinks for the top bunk, purples and blues for the middle and for the bottom oranges and reds. We also discussed that a wooden bunk bed would be cool.
